Subject: COVID-19 Coronavirus Update / 13 March 2020 #2 – POSTPONEMENT OF ALL BASKETBALLSCOTLAND COMPETITIONS

POSTPONEMENT OF ALL BASKETBALLSCOTLAND COMPETITIONS

Dear Club Secretary,

Further to our earlier statement, things have moved significantly today and, following feedback from a number of clubs and a number of self-isolations being highlighted across various clubs, basketballscotland are postponing all basketball with immediate effect. The health and safety of all our players, coaches, officials and spectators is of paramount importance.  Please take the steps to inform those affected the decision as quickly as possible, particularly those due to participate this evening.

This has been a really challenging decision to take and we appreciate the impact it may have on clubs ahead of the weekend. We remain available to support clubs as much as possible.

basketballscotland will continue to monitor the current situation and will inform of any updates.

We wanted to communicate this as quickly and clearly as possible.

There will be more information to follow.

Please keep safe.

Kevin

Preseason Tournament 2019

Following the SLBA Executive Committee meeting last night, we regret to advise that there will be no preseason tournament this year.  This is due to a combination of lack of venue and lack of appropriate resources.  The SLBA Executive will review this for the 2020-2021 season and advise further.

Team List Reminder Before 1st League or Cup Game

As some league games are starting this week this is a gentle reminder that all team lists with player names and Basketball Scotland registration numbers must be submitted to your league coordinator BEFORE you play your first league or cup game. If no team list with registration numbers are submitted then the sanctions shown below WILL BE APPLIEDno excuses will be accepted unless accompanied by evidence from the relevant staff member at Basketball Scotland that your registrations were submitted prior to your first game and the internal system at Basketball Scotland was to blame for the delay in getting the registrations confirmed. So to save the league coordinators doing some complicated calculations whilst adding up the fines please get your team lists to your coordinators asap please.

Any queries then please contact your league coordinator in the first instance.
